CPEC investment reaches $60b: Sartaj

The total CPEC investment has risen to sixty billion dollars while the worth of the projects initiated in the initial phase of the corridor was about $ 30 billion.
This was stated by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz while speaking to the Chinese Journalists here on Tuesday.
Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan has evolved a liberal investment policy to attract foreign investment in the country. He said that CPEC has become a regional project, which is offering immense investment opportunities. The Deputy Chairman said that China and other countries can invest in the industrial zones to be established in Pakistan. He said the CPEC is also enabling shifting of Chinese Industries to Pakistan. “Taking advantage of Chinese expertise, industrial clusters and smart cities will be established in the economic zones to be established under the CPEC, he said, adding several incentives will be given to the investors in the economic zones. Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan will be able to export a number of goods to China due to growing cooperation in the agriculture sector. The deputy chairman planning commission said that Belt and Road Initiative project envisioned by the Chinese President is bringing the world closer together. He said CPEC is an important component of the BRI which is taking practical shape at a fast pace.
“Long Term Plan of the CPEC has been approved which will give new dimension to China-Pakistan relations,” he said adding that the long term plan is an important part of Pakistan’s 12th five long plan.
